I haven't been blogging this week because I have been rather poorly.. My routine has been work, run then bed. I couldn't think straight to write something on here but I have been in contact with an old friend of mine who has a new fantastic clothing range.. That life.
The owner/designer of That Life clothing is Jonathan Simpson AKA Simo. He's always been a bit of a Trendy Wendy and I have recently heard about this brand so thought I would get in contact with him to ask him a few questions about this new up and coming brand...
Tell us a bit about yourself and how you have found yourself working in this industry:
Well I'm Jonathan Simpson, 23 and from Preston. I've always been interested in working in fashion retail ever since I was about 17 when I started buying branded clothing and spending ridiculous amounts on a t-shirt or jumper. I never got round to working in the fashion retail industry though. Two years ago while I was at University I got together with a friend and asked him to help me on Photoshop to make a logo for my clothing line, as then I never used Photoshop in my life. I knew what I wanted so he designed the skull for me in the way I wanted it.
Where has your inspiration come from:
"That Life" came about to me one day as we're all about some type of life from how we grow up, to what influences us and surroundings. After the logo and brand name was made I pretty much forgot all about it until around September time this year. I decided now I've finished Uni I've got a lot more free time on my hands and wanted to have a new challenge with something I wanted to pursue. The website is now live and we're taking orders with Decembers range being released on sale the 1st of December. A lot of my inspiration is from myself and what I would like to wear and what I think teenagers to mid twenties would wear now a days, I also see what trends are happening at the moment from the likes of Abandon Ship Apparel for example. They're a real inspiration as me as they only launched just over 3 years ago and now I see them as one of the market leaders. All the designs are designed by myself yes, I'm also working with a few artists as well with collaboration of Decembers launch which has been fun. I always have my mum on hand telling me what to design with me telling her its nonsense. I like it though I like showing my parents what I'm up to and the new designs I'm working on.
What does the future hold for That Life clothing:
To expand in the future I really want a clothes supplier in Preston to sell my clothes in one of their shops that would be really cool. Then branch out maybe to Liverpool and Manchester and further afield while also having the website getting many orders too. I've just finished a competition to find the "Faces of That Life" to which people voted on Facebook by people liking their pics. I chose the winners by two lads and two girls. So looking forward to doing that photoshoot before Christmas!
I really like the That Life brand, I think its original and it caters for both boys and girls.. Like I have said in previous blogs, I am really keen to support new designers and small boutiques and this is one that I am really interested in. I hope to get in contact with Simo again in the future to see how the brand is expanding and what other future plans That Life has. Keep your eye out for this brand, I think it's going to really well! You can find more information on their Facebook page. I will be doing more blogs like this and have been in contact with Zoe from Dressed by Zoe so hoping that will feature on my blog next week!
(PS sorry for being so rubbish this week.. I promise to get my act together!)
